False Alarm
Just when I thought the team had turned a corner, came the crushing blow. Another pathetic display in the FA Cup against Championship side, Reading.
Nothing was pleasing to the eyes last night. Torres and Gerrard failed to inspire the team and the former was guilty at missing several gilt edged chances. Aurelio and Ngog missed theirs too though the duo were not expected to grab the headlines.
The replay will be played at Kop End on Wednesday next week 4 days after hosting Spurs, another tough game for the 4th spot. FA Cup realistically the only silverware chance for us this season suddenly became an important agenda as we had failed badly in the other cup competition. We said goodbye to CL, Carling Cup and EPL. From the evidence last night, the boys failed to show they wanted Cup badly.
Where do we go from here?
Fixtures are getting congested with Europa League thrown in midweek later on. The subs are not getting better. The regulars keep playing hide and seek.
